High Performance Student Athlete Program
This program provides a range of benefits and services to assist elite and emerging athletes in balancing the demands of their training and competition schedules with their university study commitments.
Benny is a tireless community worker for sport on the Sunshine Coast. He has successfully conducted the Monthly and Annual Sunshine Coast Sports Awards bringing in considerable sponsorship to support the local athletes.
He has been a Commonwealth Games participant as well as an ABC Radio commentator at numerous Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Benny initiated the establishment of the SC Sport Federation and continues to work to ensure its long term sustainability.
Des Sykes new to the area having moved to Alexandra Headlands.Former Australian boxing champion. Also heavily involved in Redcliffe Rugby Union and marathon running.
Des is still very active and enjoying his role as treasurer.
Gary “GAZ” Olive is a Level II CHAPLAIN through SPORTS CHAPLAINCY AUSTRALIA.
He has been involved as an active member in surf lifesaving since 1979 at Maroochydore SLSC.
GAZ has long history of assisting with fundraising for both Commonwealth and Olympic Games Teams.
HE brings extensive PRACTICAL experience and ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS to the committee.
Les has been involved with SC /Gympie Rugby League for many years as President and Chairperson.
His dedication to the local community is well known and respected by all and his local sport experience is a valuable asset to the new Board.
Marayke is a former Paralympic Athlete, who is currently the founding manager of Sporting Dreams which is a grant scheme assisting QLD athletes with disabilities to cover costs of equipment, competition and training.
She has raised over $49000 for athletes with disabilities. She has wide experience on sports Boards and a sought-after presenter and speaker.
Peta is a past SC Sports Federation Sports Star of the Year and recently retired Australian Women’s Touch Football Captain who won 3 World Championships in her illustrious career.
She is currently working as HPE Teacher on the Sunshine Coast and brings a wealth of Sport experience to the Board.
Rhonda Poor is a long term volunteer of many Coast groups.
This includes the Sunshine Coast/Gympie Rugby League, Australian Red Cross and Sunshine Coast Legacy. Highly respected as Federation Secretary
Sue Stanley is the current Inspirational Woman of the YEAR VOLUNTEER.
She has had an outstanding career in management with Special Olympics and Down-Syndrome , where she held positions as President and Treasurer.
