This annual award recognises the outstanding sporting achievements by a Sunshine Coast masters athlete aged over 35.
Nominations are encouraged from all masters athletes in all sports recognised by Sport Australia.
Athletes can self-nominate or be nominated by another person (e.g., coach, team manager, friend, relative).
Nominations will be assessed on the following performance criteria:
Commitment and leadership as an athlete, as demonstrated positive attitude and sportspersonship on and off the field, willingness to help others within their sport, volunteer involvement in sport outside of participation:
- example of sportspersonship; such as a display of good sportspersonship like behaviour such as encouraging or complimenting others
- example of leadership demonstrated in the sport across 2024; such as a display of encouragement or tips and hacks to others
- example of demonstrated positive attitude on and/ or off the field; such as being resilient or having a growth mindset in their training or performances, or turning themselves around after a loss.
- example of volunteering in the sport; such as officiating, packing up gear, taking the warm up
- example of raising the profile of their sport and/or club
- example of increasing community engagement and/or participation
- other examples demonstrating commitment and leadership as an athlete
The significance of the athlete’s development and progression in their sporting career across 2024:
- Progression in the sport
- Outstanding development in performances comparative to previous years
- Improvement to personal best performances
- Accolades achieved in 2024
- Other information which demonstrates development and progression
