5 YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN
In 2026, Sunshine Coast Sports launched its new five-year Strategic Plan, supported by Sunshine Coast Council and Noosa Council. Guided by our values and four strategic pillars, the plan strengthens our role as the region's voice for grassroots sport, fostering participation, inclusion, community connections, investment, and recognition of sporting excellence across the Sunshine Coast and Noosa communities.

Sport plays a vital role in building healthier communities, supporting local economies and creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. From grassroots participation through to elite competition, sport contributes significant social, economic and wellbeing benefits across Australia and the Sunshine Coast.
Sport in Australia: Building Stronger Communities
The benefits extend well beyond economic outcomes. Research shows that 81% of Australians believe organised sport positively influences their local community, while 80% support ongoing investment in sport and physical activity programs. Sport helps build social connection, improves physical and mental wellbeing, develops life skills and creates a sense of belonging for participants, families and volunteers.
Community sport is powered by volunteers. Recent data indicates that approximately 2.8 million Australians volunteered in sport between 2023 and 2025, helping local clubs and sporting organisations remain accessible and sustainable.
